Eric Reed of Carlsbad Boy Scout Crew 706 recently earned his Eagle Scout rank. Eric has joined the Marine Corps Reserves and plans to attend Brigham Young University, beginning in the winter semester. To complete the requirements to earn his Eagle rank, Eric built picnic tables at Hope Elementary School in Carlsbad

The Santa Margarita Boy Scout District recently announced that David Edwards, a member of Troop 745, earned his Eagle rank. A senior at Carlsbad High School, David’s Eagle project was to build picnic tables for Buena Vista Elementary School in Carlsbad.

Michael Smith of Boy Scout Team 716 completed the requirements to earn his Eagle Award. A senior at Carlsbad High School, Smith is a member of the swim team and the Police Explorer program. His Eagle Scout leadership project was to paint a United States mural for Hope Elementary School in Carlsbad.

CARLSBAD: Scout earns his Eagle rank

Teagan Willes of Carlsbad Boy Scout Team 716 recently earned his Eagle Scout rank. A freshman at Carlsbad High School, he is a member of the French Club, the lacrosse team and the school band. He has earned 22 merit badges. For his Eagle Project, Teagan installed trail signs and designed and installed brochure boxes at the La Costa Glen Trail in Carlsbad.

CARLSBAD: School dedicates reading garden to former student

In an emotional ceremony at Kelly Elementary School this week, a newly built reading garden was dedicated to a former student who planned the project but died last year before he could finish it.

The student, Chase Quartarone, wanted to build the garden as a community service project for his Boy Scout troop. It was the last achievement he needed to early the Scouts’ highest rank of Eagle Scout, his family said…

Nirav Mehta of Carlsbad Boy Scout Troop 750 recently earned his Eagle Scout rank. A senior at La Costa Canyon High School, Nirav is a member of the Engineering Club and volunteers at the tutoring center. His Eagle Project was to design and plant a Xeriscape educational garden at the Dove Library in Carlsbad.
